those days, elder brothers and sisters keep on talking the only topic: job-hunting. i don't think financial cirsis has a very close relationship with our major. Because most of them want to do something related with teaching. And i believed and still believe you can find a job you like if you are destined to it. At least, you will find a job to feed yourself rather than out of position.
Ok, come back to our topic today. During my surfing information about Primary 3's teaching materials, i find a very good and excellent website, which can help you develop a more funny and interesting class.

Why Poem is so difficult to understand???
Through the subject of "insights"
I began to hate to read foreign poems
To read or not to read, that is a question
ok, to complain is one thing, to finish my tast is another thing
the following is the interpretation about Canadian poet Margaret Atwood's poem
"variations on the word love"
There are something i can not make sense when i first read it
How lucky we have Google nowadays
something in this interpretation are come from others idea(please clik me)
By the way
This website is wonderful for guys who are crazy about poems
Very detail, and various
Variations On The Word Love
This is a word we use to plug
holes with. It's the right size for those warm
blanks in speech, for those red heart-
shaped vacancies on the page that look nothing
like real hearts. Add lace
and you can sell
it. We insert it also in the one empty
space on the printed form
that comes with no instructions. There are whole
magazines with not much in them
but the word love, you can
rub it all over your body and you
can cook with it too. How do we know
it isn't what goes on at the cool
debaucheries of slugs under damp
pieces of cardboard? As for the weed-
seedlings nosing their tough snouts up
among the lettuces, they shout it.
Love! Love! sing the soldiers, raising
their glittering knives in salute.
Then there's the two
of us. This word
is far too short for us, it has only
four letters, too sparse
to fill those deep bare
vacuums between the stars
that press on us with their deafness.
It's not love we don't wish
to fall into, but that fear.
this word is not enough but it will
have to do. It's a single
vowel in this metallic
silence, a mouth that says
O again and again in wonder
and pain, a breath, a finger
grip on a cliffside. You can
hold on or let go.
Atwood divides her poem, “Variations on the Word Love,” into two concrete sections, which in turn represent two different ways of looking at the word love. The first stanza is dedicated to expressing love as a word and the second focuses on love as a feeling. Readers notice a drastic change in Atwood’s tone between the two stanzas because in the first stanza, her attitude about love is expressed quite bitterly. This bitterness is evident in her description of love as “a word we use to plug/ holes with.” This description makes the word “love” seem insignificant, expressing how casual the word has become. Within the same stanza, she expresses the idea that love has become too commercialized, such as with heart-shaped Valentines Day cards that “look nothing/ like real hearts. Add lace/ and you can sell/ it.” In these lines, Atwood expresses that love has lost all of its meaning because it has been misrepresented and exploited.
Although Atwood’s attitude towards love appears bitter in the first stanza, her bitterness vanishes at the start of the second stanza when she says, “Then there’s the two/ of us. This word/ is far too short for us, it has only/ four letters.” Upon reading this line, it becomes evident that Atwood’s bitterness is not towards love itself, but towards the misleading image associated with it. Atwood describes love as a “single/ vowel in this metallic/ silence,” which expresses that a one syllable, four-letter word is not sufficient to accurately represent such a strong emotion. She feels very strongly that the word “love” is “not enough but it will/ have to do” and finishes the poem with a literal cliff-hanger ending, dangling the readers on the edge of possibility when she expresses it as, “a finger-/ grip on a cliffside. You can/ hold on or let go.” This illustrates that love is a very subjective feeling, which has different effects on different individuals, who can, in turn, make various different decisions on the subject as well.
Nowadays, the connectation of love has been extended. Just like the poem mentioned: for those red heartshaped vacancies on the page that look nothing like real hearts, and add lace and you can sell it. I n my mind, love is so precious that it is impossible for us to judge by money. I really hope that all of us shall value love and cherish love.
I am reading, I am thinking--- about Nietzsche
vivi 发表于 2008-11-24 21:08:25
My understanding: it is never neccessary to keep these two factors opposite. I strongly believe these two parts can be undergo smoothly even though they two have a relative great gap between them. If so, they can contribute a harmony educational system which should be conculded both life education but also cultural education. For the former one is the foundation who can provide the basic need to the latter, while the latter is in a much higher level which can effiently guide the former one to a better life. Two of them can complete each other rather than opposite one other.
2. Nietzsche believes that eucation should pay close attention to the language study. And it should be start with a strict discipline, such as to read classcicals, so as to form a lively subject. He comstockeries to learn language through history and academic. In spite this, he think we can not let students to express freely before they are mature enough to do so, otherwise the irresponsible teachers.
My understanding: I cannot agree any more in Nietzsche' idea that education should be develop through language practice and classical which, firstly, can laid a valid foundation to the future use; secondly, can enable students to perceive the beauty of clasicals. But I don't think this point education should be aginst the study of history. Because I think during the process of learning, history learning can play a complete role of the above educaiton. We'd better mix them together to form a mixture theory which help students' can reach their final goal step by step under the guidance of great educators or teachers.
3: Nietzsche thinks one should closely exam their native language' classicals, because people will uplifting influence on that classcicals. As so, students can develop a kind of Sensus Divinitatis which great influnce their furture development.
My understanding: I can not agree any more in this point. I believe only the people manage their mother tongue well can they form other kinds of knowledge well. That's the reason why i spent around one hour a day to improve my Chinese after my mam criticize me that my Chinese are too bad. I think English and Chinese will never aginst each other but complete.
Something about Nietzsche
vivi 发表于 2008-11-24 20:23:27
I am the person who surely know what i need to do, but seldom to start. I am really good at thinking maybe. Even though i have great interest in Nietsche, i didn't start to read him until last week. And after my reading and their presentation, for the questions they raised," what is/are great influnce(s) Nietzsche's idea on China's education? " I have something others to say.
The presentors hold the view the biggest influnce lies to his idea about "superman." i will not deny that., for that is a matter of creativity, which our nation now always emphasize, is really a big deal for China's present. And also i can not agree any more that" education should be to purse development of human understanding." And at the same time, this is really one factor China'd education zone can learn a lot from it. Because education should lead students to fulfill their own study system, and develop their own understanding rather than to root memorize the facts.
Despite this point, i think we can learn a lot from his idea about respect teachers and educatio. Like the textbook says" one of the most significant parts of his philosophy is the importance he places on the rote of education and teachers in society and their relationship to the development of culture. " Education and teacher , once in China, were regard as lowest --level part in society. With the development of Academic Exchange, around 1980s, Nietzsche's idea come back to China mainland. This time, his ideas were treated more justify. Also at that time, China began to promote education and teachers social standard, began to value their contribution. So I make this conclusion, Nietzsche's educational theroy maybe play a great part in it.
And next comes to the idea about his idea of " true education". I think today China's present education is still a kind of what he advocate. Even though today there are so many colledge students, the portion of this still only lies little. The aim of colledge education still produce few people who can manage what a " true education" should requires. Despite elite education, there are so many developed and developing vocational school in China. That's meet what Nietzsche said" others can guaratee them to live".
Of course, just like the old saying goes, different people have different understanding of one thing. That's my own understanding, if you have any other, i am here looking forward to your voice.
Special and impressive

Today, we have a special class which we never experience before. Dr. Nicholson leads us to an outdoor class, in which we have several activities. What impresses me most is one sentence Dr. Nicholson said to us: what I give you today is memory. My promise to you is you will never forget this class even though after you graduate years after. I am not sure how long I can keep the details of this class in my mind, but I know I will never forget my feelings in this class.
At the very beginning, we have a game named “trust me or not”. Dr. Nicholson requires us divide into 3 groups with 10 people. And we have to take turns to choose one student each time to stand in the center. The others are circled around him/ her. The students in the center have to hind eyes, and then bend over everywhere unconsciously. The others need to make sure catch him/her in case to get him/her hurt. This is an easy way to test whether you trust your classmates enough. I have to say some of my classmates played it very well but not me. With a frightened motion, I dare not to bend over. I admit I am afraid my classmates are not powerful enough to catch me. I am sorry about it. Maybe I need more practice.
Next comes to the game of looking your partners. Dr. Nicholson requires us to take off our eye patches. At the same time, he will name us a kind of animal, such as dog, animal, etc. and you have to pick up your partners who are the same animal as soon as possible. At the end of the finding game, only one student will be left. He/ she will be the isolated one. And the purpose of this game is to let the left student know the feeling of lonely and being alone. Because we live in a group, and it is impossible for us to live in a lonely condition. If we want to live better, we’d better learn the importance of corporate with others, and live with others.
What impresses me most through out the whole class is the last part of this class. Dr. Nicholson asks us to choose one place, either sit down or stand up, to listen, to think about, or even mediate 3 minutes. During this time, you can think about everything you want. I think about a lot. I am a person who like leave some time everyday to enable me have time to reflect the whole day’s affairs. Because I believe only when you calm down and keep alone can you efficiently to look back what you have done and said through the whole day. And then you can pick up what you did very well, or what you have to improve in the near future. It is really good for your future development, and self-cultivated. Just like today, maybe under the influence of the class, I think a lot of my future, about how I can be a good teacher, how I can teach my students well, and how can meet their needs, and so on.
All in all, this is the first outdoor class for me in my university. I am not sure whether it will be the last one. Anytime when I realized I am in thinking, I feel proud of myself. And Dr. Nicholson, you achieve it, because you really give us the beautiful memory.
